There’s acting, there’s music, there’s video and then there’s this. Audio. It’s not exactly music but you still listen to it. It’s not necessarily acting but it still got performed and recorded. I’m talking about comedy sketches, radio appearances, voice demos, taped conversations, aural experiments, extracts from audio books, Gary Le Strange droning on about nothing and recordings of me trying to be funny when I was a kid. This section offers just a small selection of the audio work I’ve done over the years. And, if I pluck up the guts, it will grow.
I do not present any of this stuff as evidence of greatness. On the contrary, I think half of it is rubbish and I can hardly bear to listen to myself bleating on. But I do present it as archaeology, as evidence that I existed and that I continue to do so, and in the hope that someone, somewhere, might learn something from it. Rather than just screaming “You’re shit” at me.
