GARY IS ALIVE AND WELL
Despite an absence of nearly two months from the stage, Gary Le Strange is still alive and well and about to bounce back! With a new manager, a new flat and a new bank account, Gary is ready to start working up the escalators to glory yet again...
Gary will be doing a warm-up gig at the Brixton Windmill on May 8th, supporting the wonderful Mitch Benn and the Distractions. Rumour has it that he may be performing some brand new songs, but rumour also has it that Gary is such a perfectionist that he may not do so until he's written the lyrics. See the Events page for details!
CLUB LE STRANGE
After last month's curious cancellation, Club Le Strange is back at the Albany on May 12th, with a fantastic line-up of special guests! Contrary to popular belief, Philip De Vine will be back to please his growing legion of fans, though Gary says there's a very big surprise in store for himů I confess I have no idea what that means!! See the Events page!
The recording of Gary's third solo album has resumed! Gary recovered his equipment and MIDI files from his former manager and has been working on no fewer than 17 tracks for possible inclusion on the next album! The working title is, apparently, still Glamoronica (a forward-thinking blend of electronica and glam), though Gary said that at one point, it was going to be called The Rising Fall of Twiggy Pop. That's also a good title!
The provisional track listing for the album is as follows:
Aliens Took My Stereo
Dancing on the Autobahn
All I Ever Do (is sit in my room)
The Cowboy Astronaut of Mother's Day
Escalators to Glory
Music for Televisions
I am a Video
When the Forest Smells
Everything is Wrong
Tough Like Rocky
Dead Men Don't Cry
This Doesn't Feel Like Doomsday
Though all the music is written, Gary says most of the lyrics are "still at the primeval stage" and won't be ready for a couple of months. Then he says the actual recording and mixing stage might take another six months, so it looks like we're heading for a release some time in January 2006. Bah!! Why do pop stars have to take longer and longer over making their albums as time goes on? I WANT TO HEAR IT NOW!!
Oh well, I suppose the fact that Gary had all his equipment stolen from him and then got kicked out of his flat and had to live with his Mum for a few months might be taken into consideration. And Gary said that Polaroid Suitcase took him "at least a year" to make, and that only had 8 measly tracks on it!! Great tracks, certainly, but Gary says his new stuff "makes the old stuff sound like complete shit". I have to believe him, because he's never been wrong before!!
By the way, don't forget to watch Doctor Who every week! Not because Gary's in it, cos he's not, but because it's my favourite TV programme EVER!! Every time I watch it, I imagine what it would be like if Gary played the lead "Doctor" part. I think Gary would be really good at it, and all my mates think so too! He's got exactly the right amount of charisma and danger, and he's a bit mad (in a good way), and even though he hasn't got a Northern accent any more, he does originally come from Yorkshire! (He says he grew out of the accent when he went to art college). Gary says he wants to get into acting one day, after he's had his first Number One, so "who" knows??!!?!!
THE CAMPAIGN STARTS HERE: GARY LE STRANGE FOR DOCTOR WHO!!
