Jonny & the Baptists in the middle of a crisis
In what appears to be a general testing of the waters to see if I'm any good as a live comedy performer these days, I'll be making a rare appearance as sixties surf rock legend Colin Watson at a comedy evening called The Alternative Comedy Memorial Society at the Soho Theatre on Dean Street, London on the evening of Monday July 2nd.

And, after my recent gig for The Velvet Onion was deemed to be at least a partial success, Gary Le Strange will be returning to the stage once or twice, starting with Jonny & The Baptists' Midweek Crisis at The Vandella in Shepherd's Bush on Wednesday July 4th and the second instalment of the revamped Club Fantastico, also at the Vandella on Thursday July 12th.

I'm also very chuffed to say that Gary will be performing in support of the excellent Tenek at Bedsitland on Saturday October 2nd. Here's a video of them in action. I urge you to buy their excellent album On the Wire immediately.

GIGS GALORE! (well, one or two gigs anyway...)

Rehearsals get under way very soon for The Intervention, a new play by Dave Florez, starring Phil Nichol, James Carroll Jordan, Jan Ravens, Ann Bryson, Aisling Bea, Michael Malarkey and Waen "man who is writing this" Shepherd. The show runs from August 3rd to 26th at the newly refurbished Assembly Rooms on George Street at 7.05 pm, with previews on Aug 1st and 2nd. As part of my preparation for the character, I have to grow a moustache and learn to play the guitar. Or at least, learn how to play one badly. More than that I can not say, but there's an interesting trailer here which may give you some idea of what to expect, and there's a tiny little interview with me about the play on the Three Weeks website. Early indications of what my moustache may look like can be seen in the picture on the left. Tickets are now available at the Assembly Rooms Fringe website or at the official site for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The Intervention
Also appearing at this year's Edinburgh Fringe, a new play from Dyad Productions called Female Gothic, starring Rebecca Vaughan and directed by Guy Masterson. Continuing the tradition of their previous shows I, Elizabeth and The Diaries of Adam and Eve, I've contributed special sound effects to the production, which begins at Assembly George Square on August 2nd and continues through to August 27th. Please note this is NOT the same venue as the Assembly Rooms (see above), which is on George Street and not George Square. Tickets can be purchased through the official Edinburgh Festival Fringe website.
