A poor quality, second-generation mini-DV video of a lacklustre performance at The Clap Clinic, a comedy night at Chats Palace, Hackney, organised by Zena Barrie and Michelle Flower of It’s Alright For Some, who produced my show in Edinburgh that year and went on to run the Camden Fringe. It’s pretty lifeless and I probably would have buried this forever, had it not been the first ever public performance of Is My Toaster Sentient?, complete with different lyrics and, very likely, a brand new mini-kilt. It’s also probably the first time out for the medium-quality character waffle I painstakingly trot out beforehand, so I suppose I can forgive myself for trying to be so careful with my delivery. The Trap hosted and they were far, far slicker than me.
