Do you remember in the old days? We used to sit round in a circle and play songs on the piano And if you wanted someone else to hear it Well, you’d have to write it down You had to send it on a horse and it would take about a fortnight But now we’re in the future I can write songs on my computer Imagine the futility Of a horse trying to keep up with me Do you remember in the old days? We used to spin black plastic round and touch it with a needle Some people say that’s better than the stuff that we’ve got now But hey, move over Grandad! This is the 21st century, man Stop and have a think what the future might hold We could clone our favourite pop stars and make them do the washing up Or replace our ears with samplers and our larynxes with CD burners And have drum loops pouring out of our mouths And what if I invented a sound That could wipe out an entire army but leave the buildings intact? I’m not saying I’d use it but we’ll have to wait and see That’s the wonderful, exciting, sexy world of technology
