THE MAZE
For a moment - just one tiny little moment - I almost thought I’d drawn a maze you could
actually get through. But no.
THE WORD SEARCH
Can you find three monsters? I can only find two. Well, actually I can find four, or maybe five,
but I don’t think those other two or three were intentional.
The two I can definitely find:
1.
DRACULA - diagonally, down from the top left - and yes, I spotted the fake-out reading
right from the top
2.
WEREWOLF - straight down from the W towards the end of the top row
The other three (which I don’t think were intentional):
3.
THALS - halfway along the second row from the bottom. A fairly well-established alien
race in Doctor Who, so this could have been the third answer. I definitely knew about
them. But they’re hardly monsters, and not really in the same ballpark as the first two.
4.
GORN - second column along, read up from the bottom. The big guy in the lizard
costume William Shatner wrestles with in those Star Trek clips you’ve seen. But I
wouldn’t have known its name. Would I?
5.
SODS - diagonally up from the bottom right corner, after the G. And yes, I’m clutching at
straws. Can you find anything better? Did I just forget to put the third one in? It must
have been Thals. Or Gorn.
THE CROSSWORD
Have you ever seen such a wretched thing? I suppose it’s my first attempt, but Christ it’s
weak. Especially compared with the similar word puzzles I did a few pages back.
The answers (in case you think you actually need them):
ACROSS
1: Skywalker
3: Bell
4: Isle
DOWN
1: Sub
2: Yellow
4: Is
And why did I never, ever use a ruler to draw these? For someone so prolific, I was so bloody
lazy.
Update (November 2023)
I’ve finally seen the third monster: IGOR. As in Igor. Second column from the left, read
upwards from the bottom. Overlapping with Gorn, so I really should have seen it earlier.
